Tell us about your business.
Surf Club Restaurant and Bar is inside the Coffs Harbour Surf Life Saving Club.
Open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week as well as weddings, functions, parties, and conferences.
We are a mother and daughter team, event swapping roles at times (laughs). We support each other and are each other’s, right-hand women!
What motivates you in your role and business?
Contributing to the tourist industry and local economy of our region is a big motivator. We also genuinely love people, food, and parties! Being in a family business is very special. Knowing half the town helps as well, we get to be part of some very special and intimate occasions like 100th birthdays, weddings and wakes.
What have you learnt over the past 12 months and how has your business changed?
That you cant’ control outcomes of anything in like, and that back up plans and Plan B’s are imperative to success. That the ability to be flexible, innovative, and go with the flow is a must in the changing global economy.
What would you say is your greatest professional accomplishment to date?
Being in business for over 20 years is a great achievement; we are in our 13th year at this location. It’s pretty amazing. We would have to be one of our cities busiest venues and our reputation is iconic. We are really proud of what we have accomplished.
